Glentoran have sold goalkeeper Dayle Coleing to Lincoln Red Imps, where the Gibraltar international spent last season on loan.
he 25-year-old arrived at The Oval in August 2020 from fellow Gibraltar club Europa and big things were expected of a player with 18 international caps.
However, things didn’t go to plan and his fate was sealed when Mick McDermott signed Aaron McCarey from Cliftonville a year ago.
The Glentoran manager signed two more goalkeepers this summer, Oliver Webb and Mark Argyrides, leaving Coleing completely out in the cold.
His loan was for one season with his terms in east Belfast due to expire next year, and McDermott wished the player well in his native Gibraltar.
“I wish Dayle much success at Lincoln and with the Gibraltar national team,” he said.
“He is a talented and honest player and he undoubtedly has a bright future ahead of him.”
The fee paid by Lincoln was not disclosed, but Oval sources suggest McDermott was happy with the deal and even made a profit on the player.
The Red Imps won the National League in Gibraltar last season but were beaten for the first time in Champions League and Europa Conference League play-offs.
