Henry Cejudo on Aljamain Sterling fighting TJ Dillashaw

A while ago, rumors swirled that the UFC was working on pairing Sterling and Dillashaw for September. However, the defending champion refused to sign the contract due to a salary dispute. The New York native explained in his YouTube video that fighters get a “raise” every few fights, but he was offered the same amount of money.

Henry Cejudo is unsure what to make of this match as he believes he was in the front line to receive a title shot. During an episode of The Triple C & Schmo show, former champion said:

“I don’t know Schmo, I remember when I talked to UFC officials I felt like I was going to get the next title. But it doesn’t seem like that’s going to happen more likely. But if they want to give him EPO [Dillashaw] shot for a minute, that’s fine. I think it gives me more time to be even better than I am now. Nothing’s been signed yet, Schmo, so I’m still hopeful that Aljamain will fight his daddy.

Henry Cejudo and TJ Dillashaw have a history together. They fought at UFC Fight Night: Cejudo vs. Dillashaw in 2019, where “Triple C” won via first-round TKO.

Dillashaw’s pre-fight sample was found to contain a trace of EPO, a performance-enhancing drug. USADA quickly suspended the fighter for two years.
