Trevoh Chalobah has recently been linked with a January move from Stamford Bridge but Chelsea boss Graham Potter is unlikely to allow him to leave.
The 23-year-old enjoys mini purple form after breaking into Potter’s starting lineup.
Chelsea have actually kept five consecutive clean sheets in all competitions, with Chalobah starting in the previous four games.
This bodes well for Saturday’s Premier League game at home to Manchester United.
get out of speculation
Well-respected journalist Fabrizio Romano explained on his YouTube channel last month that Chalobah wants to be a big player in Bridge. He added that talks have actually started about the defender leaving in the January transfer window, either on loan or on a permanent basis.
However, the centre-back’s luck has changed drastically over the past few weeks.
He’s looking for a really trustworthy option in the Blues’ back line on the right of a back-three, something he proved last season he can do at the top level.
Potter won’t let Chalobah go
In our opinion, Chalobah is going absolutely nowhere in the new year.
Potter’s comments at Friday’s press conference about the centre-half are pretty clear evidence that he’s being highly rated by the boss at the moment.
When discussing Chalobah, Potter told Football London: “I was very impressed – and from day one I have to say. He didn’t start in the first two games but acted perfectly. He trained very well and was very professional and determined. He is an impressive character and very focused on his football. He wants to play, wants to help the team, wants Chelsea to win.
“So he’s great in that regard and is a bit of a soldier. He played all the games because we had player availability issues, but he replaced us and is playing at a very good level.
If Chelsea go into multiple cup competitions, they should absolutely top 50+ games during the season.
Kepa Arrizabalaga is getting a long run as a starting goalkeeper due to his excellent form, which is really encouraging for the rest of the dressing room.
For Chalobah, he can only continue in this current form to prove he is a valuable player.
It seems crazy to think that any kind of move could be realistic in January.
