Should Everton sell Richarlison to Chelsea or Spurs

If the media speculation is correct, at the moment it looks like Everton star Richarlison is going to move to a London club, Chelsea or Tottenham. So, assuming that’s the case, which of these deals is the best option for the Blues?

Like probably most Everton supporters, I would ideally like to keep the Brazilian at the club, but he seems determined to move on this summer.

There were rumors that Richarlison could be a target for Arsenal, but these disappeared fairly quickly and it appeared that Spurs and Gunners rivals Chelsea were the two leading the pack.

So the question for Toffees fans then seems to be; What if these two clubs allow Everton to obtain the best result?

Both potential deals, at least according to the media, would include player swaps as well as a fee, so in some ways the decision is which group of potential players will move to Merseyside in exchange for Richarlison.

Spurs are rumored to be offering Lucas Moura for fellow Brazilian Richarlison and possibly Harry Winks, although any deal for Winks appears not to hinge on the Brazilian striker the other way around.

Moura is a striker who has seen his chances at Tottenham limited and has only played 19 times in the Premier League, including 15 as a substitute.

I don’t think Moura is the right type of player to replace Richarlison as he lacks the goal production and at 29 he is also in the wrong age bracket.

The other possible player swap is Steven Bergwijn. The Dutchman is another striker who has fallen down the North London pecking order.

Again though, he hasn’t scored many goals although he hasn’t exactly had many chances recently and like Moura has been mostly used as a substitute.

If Spurs aren’t the best bet, what about Chelsea?

The west London club have more potential talent to offer in a more money player deal and of course also have Frank Lampard’s connection.

In particular, there are several young players who would be a good addition to Everton’s current squad.

Midfielder Billy Gilmour has been mentioned and although he had a solid early run at Chelsea, he wasn’t as successful on loan at Norwich last season.

The midfield talent that most Toffees fans would like is Conor Gallagher. The 22-year-old has had a superb season at Crystal Palace and is on the wishlist of several Premier League clubs.

However, there are rumors that London Blues manager Thomas Tuchel may decide to keep him at Stamford Bridge.

Looking forward, the only name repeatedly linked is Hakim Ziyech. There are, however, stories that he is more likely on his way to Italy.

Another of the Chelsea players to consider could be Christian Pulisic. The United States international could be available after failing to find a regular place in the Chelsea squad and Lampard knows him for managing him at Stamford Bridge.

He’s a good player and could benefit from a change of scenery, but I don’t know if Chelsea would be willing to let Pulisic go, either on loan with an option to buy or permanently.

Of course, another alternative could be Everton trying to find another buyer and hoping to secure the highest possible fee for Richarlison from them. Can they afford to wait a very long time to do so?
